Cong appoints DPCC vice presidents, general secretaries, forms political affairs panel

New Delhi, May 3 (PTI) The Congress on Sunday announced a fresh organisational rejig in its Delhi unit, appointing a new set of vice presidents and general secretaries, and constituting a 31-member Political Affairs Committee with immediate effect.

In two separate statements issued by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, the party said the appointments to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) were approved by the Congress president.

Twelve leaders — Surender Kumar, Hari Shankar Gupta, Bhisham Sharma, C P Mittal, Kamal Kant Sharma, Jagjiwan Sharma, Abha Chaudhary, Tasveer Solanki, Mudit Aggarwal, Laxman Rawat, Ali Mehandi and Abdul Hannan — have been named as vice presidents.

Additionally, 26 leaders — Anil Bhardwaj, Gauri Shankar Sharma, P K Mishra, Prerna Singh, Neetu Verma Soin, Jai Prakash Rana, Vikash Shokeen, Dharmpal Chandela, Mir Singh, Mohammad Jawed Mirza, Harnam Singh, Rajender Tanwar, Balkishan Bali, Pramod Jayant, Deepak Bhardwaj, Satender Sharma, Hazi Jarif, Sidharth Kundu, Akanksha Ola, Shanti Saroop, Lokender Chaudhary, Vineet Yadav, Ashok Basoya, Ariba Khan, Bhupesh Yadav and Jai Prakash — have been appointed as general secretaries.

In a parallel move, the party has also constituted a Political Affairs Committee for the Delhi unit, comprising 31 members. The panel includes senior leaders, such as Devender Yadav, Ajay Maken, J P Aggarwal, Subhash Chopra, Anil Chaudhary, Sandeep Dikshit, Alka Lamba, Ramesh Kumar, Udit Raj, Rajender Pal Gautam, Rajesh Lilothia, Harun Yusuf, Krishna Tirath and Yoganand Shastri, among others.
