New Delhi: On his visit to Singapore, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal held talks on bilateral trade and investment at the ongoing second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), a PIB press release stated.
Discussions included leaders from various industries including Temasek Holdings, DBS Bank, OMERS, Keppal Infrastructure, and TVS Motor Company. The main focus of the discussions was on exploring and enhancing the investment opportunities between India and Singapore in a bid to enhance mutual growth and collaboration across diverse sectors.
The talks focused on scaling up investments, particularly in the SME sector, enhancing the investment climate in India, and strengthening the economic ties between India and Singapore for mutual growth and innovation.
During his visit to Singapore, Goyal also visited the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Headquarters and ITE College Central to explore opportunities for collaboration between India and Singapore in developing cutting-edge learning environments, the release added. It is to be noted that in 2023-24, Singapore was the largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) for India, with an estimated amount of $11.77 billion in inflows.
