Kasaragod (Kerala), Jul 28 (PTI) The Central University of Kerala on Tuesday said it had signed an MoU with the Indian Navy to promote academic collaboration, interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by CUK Registrar Prof V B Sameer and Commander Kalesh Mohanan, Officer-in-Charge of the Naval History Division of the Indian Navy, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof Siddu P Algur, according to a university statement.
The collaboration aims to strengthen academic excellence and capacity building in areas of mutual interest, with a special focus on maritime studies and strategic research.
It will facilitate collaborative research, faculty and student exchange programmes, expert lectures, joint seminars, workshops and internships, while also providing access to specialised knowledge in maritime affairs, naval history, national security, defence technologies and related fields.
The partnership is expected to provide students with exposure to the practical applications of science, technology, strategic studies and leadership through interactions with naval experts.
Faculty members will have opportunities to undertake joint research projects and policy-oriented studies on maritime security and national development, the statement said.
The MoU envisages interdisciplinary research in emerging areas such as maritime technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, ocean sciences, environmental sustainability, logistics and innovation.
