Bhopal, Apr 16 (PTI) Census 2027 is an important step in shaping the nation’s future. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Thursday while asking people of the state to participate in it with complete sincerity and honesty.

Census is beginning in the state today and it is not just a data processing mechanism, he said at a programme where he initiated the self-enumeration process.

“Census is an important step in shaping the future of our nation. It is the backbone of the country and the foundation of development. This time, Census is being conducted with digital and modern technology. The people of the state should participate in it with complete sincerity and honesty. This Census is for the bright future of our children,” he added.

Online self-enumeration will be conducted in the state from April 16 to 30, while house listing will take place from May 1 to 30, and the entire process will be done digitally.

“The Census will help determine whether the streams of development are easily reaching the last person in society. Employees and officers engaged in the Census are performing the sacred task of nation-building, and their diligence and precision will strengthen the country’s future,” he said.

The Indian Census has a rich tradition and is considered the largest administrative and statistical exercise in the world. It is the major source of primary data at the village, town, and ward levels, providing granular data on demographics, housing, assets, education, economic activity, language, and migration, officials said.

It also provides population data for the delimitation of parliamentary and assembly constituencies and provides crucial inputs for many government policies and public services, they added. PTI MAS BNM
