Rudraprayag, Apr 24 (PTI) Police registered a case on Friday following the vandalism of several public toilets in Kedarnath, officials said.

According to the officials, the action was taken after a complaint was lodged at the Sonprayag police station by Mintu Pathak, supervisor of Sulabh International, the agency maintaining the facilities.

The complaint stated that the doors of toilets established in Kedarnath and Ghodapadav sectors were damaged. The accused also broke water taps and toilet cisterns at multiple locations, according to the complaint.

Five doors were damaged near Hat Bazaar, behind the PWD office, Punjab Sindh Bhavan, and the base camp area.

Pathak alleged that 12 taps and 60 cisterns across various sectors in Kedarnath were also destroyed. “This act has caused heavy damage to public property and created inconvenience for devotees,” Pathak stated.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, the police said. PTI DPT AKY AKY MNK MNK
