New Delhi, Aug 1 (PTI) The CAQM Enforcement Task Force (ETF) reviewed reports from 159 inspections and enforcement actions carried out in the National Capital Region between July 14 and July 24 at its 136th meeting, officials said on Saturday.
The Commission for Air Quality Management’s (CAQM) meeting was held on Friday.
Flying squads carried out 22 inspections across construction and demolition sites, 97 inspections in the industrial sector and 40 inspections related to diesel generator sets.
“Based on the inspection reports received for reported violations, closure of 17 projects/industries (11 construction and demolition sites, and six industries), sealing of 11 diesel generator sets, issuance of eight orders/directions for compliance and imposition of environmental compensation (EC) in five cases have been proposed,” an official said.
The ETF also reviewed the status of inspections of redeveloped roads undertaken in accordance with the standard framework issued by the CAQM.
During the review, inspections covering 106 road stretches with a cumulative length of approximately 38 km were carried out in areas under the municipal corporations of Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram.
While all 42 road stretches inspected in Ghaziabad were found to have complete end-to-end paving, 38 of 50 road stretches (9 km) had end-to-end paving in Faridabad and 11 of 14 (22 km) road stretches had end-to-end paving in Gurugram, the official said.
During the meeting, the commission reiterated the need for robust enforcement, strengthened inter-agency coordination and strict adherence to prescribed environmental norms to ensure abatement of air pollution across the NCR. PTI ALC DIV DIV
