Bengaluru, Apr 24 (PTI) A special meeting of the Karnataka Cabinet on Friday decided on the SC internal quota within the overall limit of 15 per cent of total reservations.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting here, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the Cabinet decided reservation of 5.25 per cent each for the “right hand groups,” and the “left hand group”, and 4.55 per cent for other SCs, including nomadic communities.
He said the state government had originally intended to provide 17 per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes and seven per cent for Scheduled Tribes. However, due to a court order, it has been reduced to 15 per cent for SCs and three per cent for STs.
Siddaramaiah announced that, following this decision, the major roadblock to filling government vacancies has been removed.
“From tomorrow onwards, the recruitment process will begin with the issuance of notifications,” the CM said.
Flanked by his Dalit Cabinet colleagues, Siddaramaiah said there were no differences of opinion among the Dalit ministers during the meeting and that the decision was unanimous. PTI GMS SSK
