Itanagar, Nov 5 (PTI) The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has launched a drive for donation of clothes in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district to provide relief to the poor during harsh winter months.
The initiative — RINKY (Rekindling kindness in you) — encourages people to donate their excess warm clothes, which would be made available to needy individuals through a dedicated stall.
It operates under the motto, ‘Take what you need, keep what you can’, promoting a culture of sharing, reuse and community participation.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised the BRO for the initiative, describing it as a thoughtful effort reflecting compassion, generosity and community welfare.
Khandu, in a social media post, said the initiative would ensure that unused clothing finds a meaningful purpose while bringing warmth to those who need it most as winter sets in.
The initiative assumes significance in Tawang, a high-altitude district that experiences severe winter conditions, making access to adequate warm clothing essential for vulnerable sections of the population.
By creating dedicated collection and distribution points, RINKY seeks to facilitate the redistribution of usable winter garments and encourage residents to contribute to a collective effort to support those in need, officials said. PTI CORR ACD
