Tiruchirapalli/Pudukkotai (Tamil Nadu), Aug 23 (PTI) Reasserting the TVK’s grassroots momentum following its Assembly election victory, Minister J Mohammed Parvez urged party cadres on Sunday to secure a complete sweep in the forthcoming local body polls.
Addressing party functionaries in Pudukkottai, Parvez attributed the TVK’s rapid ascent to power to a “whistle revolution,” driven primarily by the sustained support of women voters and the singular appeal of the party leadership.
Whistle is TVK’s election symbol.
“Do your party work, development work, and whatever field work is next. We must win one hundred per cent in the local body elections. Earlier, anyone could become a councillor, chairman, or panchayat president, but now only those who work hard can achieve this in Tamil Nadu,” the minister, who holds the Labour Welfare and Skill Development portfolio, said.
Recalling the party’s timeline, he stated that despite having no electoral alliances, the TVK successfully captured power.
The minister emphasised that the current administration’s transparent functioning — notably the live broadcasting of the Assembly proceedings — has drawn massive online viewership among the youth, which he claimed has unsettled Opposition parties.
Directing cadres to begin booth-level mobilisation, Parvez stated that local body leadership positions, ranging from panchayat presidents to cooperative bank heads, will be strictly allocated to hardworking grassroots functionaries.
He urged existing members to collaborate seamlessly with newly inducted functionaries from the AIADMK to ensure comprehensive electoral victories across rural and urban local bodies.
Later, interacting with the media in Tiruchirapalli, the minister addressed pressing administrative and labour grievances.
He said that the government is actively reviewing wage-related complaints raised by 108 ambulance staff, promising that clear administrative action will be taken shortly to resolve the issue.
Responding to concerns regarding industrial violations, Parvez maintained that authorities execute immediate rescues upon receiving reports of child labour. While characterising the current number of such incidents as minimal, he affirmed the government’s ongoing mandate to completely eliminate child labour across all factory premises. PTI JR KH
