Patna, Sep 1 (PTI) BPSC exam aspirants on Tuesday gathered outside the official residence of Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari here, demanding “equal opportunities” in the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4).
The job aspirants demanded that Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) candidates, like the state’s STET examinees, be allowed to apply for TRE-4.
In the notification for TRE-4, issued on August 18, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) allowed STET candidates to apply for the teaching job exam but barred CTET candidates from doing so.
The STET is an eligibility test, whereas BPSC TRE is the recruitment exam for government teacher posts.
An aspirant told PTI Videos outside the minister’s residence that lakhs of CTET candidates were affected by the BPSC’s move.
He said that the minister should at least meet them and hear their grievances, as “he always claims he is ready for dialogue.” The BPSC on Monday postponed the scheduled commencement of the online application process for the TRE-4, citing procedural changes.
According to a notice issued by the commission, the online application process for recruitment to 32,388 vacant school teacher posts under the Bihar Education Department, scheduled to begin from Tuesday, has been deferred.
Tiwari who did not meet the exam candidates outside his residence told reporters elsewhere that students should not panic.
“Students are our future, and the government is ready to hear and address their grievances. BPSC is preparing to conduct the examination transparently. Candidates should engage themselves in preparing for the exam,” he said.
The minister, however, did not comment on whether the CTET candidates will be allowed to appear for TRE-4. PTI SUK NN
