Ambala, Aug 31 (PTI) The decomposing body of a newborn baby was recovered near a drain in the Indira Colony area of Ambala Cantt on Monday, police said.

After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and initiated an investigation. Police said the baby was wrapped in a cloth.

The Housing Board police station had received a report that the body of a newborn was lying near a drain in Indira Colony, Ambala Cantt.

Preliminary assessments suggest the body is one or two days old. The condition of the body was shocking to onlookers.
