Mumbai, Apr 18 (PTI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday constituted a special committee to bring transparency to the internal transfer process of its engineers.
The move comes in the backdrop of the civic body cancelling the transfers of over 120 engineers earlier following allegations of corruption in the process. Around 4,500 engineers are currently working across various departments of the civic body.
The committee, to be chaired by the Director (Engineering and Services), will take decisions regarding transfers within departments, a BMC release said.
As part of the reforms, the BMC will introduce an online system for transfers by developing dedicated software on the lines of the Maharashtra government’s model used in departments such as transport and veterinary services, it added.
The online mechanism is expected to ensure a more transparent and streamlined process for internal transfers of engineers, the release informed. PTI KK BNM
