New Delhi, Oct 25 (PTI) The BJP’s youth wing on Sunday launched a nationwide youth outreach programme under the party’s “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” campaign amid the Congress and its allies seeking to intensify their protest against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

In a statement, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) said the month-long outreach programme under the campaign aims to establish a “meaningful dialogue” with young citizens on the issues related to democracy and counter “misleading information”.

It said the move also seeks to encourage conscious and active participation of the youth in nation-building.

“The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today launched nationwide youth outreach programs as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign. This campaign will continue until November 30,” the BJP’s youth wing said.

“The initiative aims to foster meaningful dialogue with young citizens on issues concerning democracy, counter misinformation, and encourage the informed and active participation of the youth in nation-building,” it added.

The move comes at a time when the Congress, its allies and others, including the Cockroach Janta Party, (CJP) have been pressing for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging ‘vote chori’ in the SIR of electoral rolls. They also held a series of street protests in Delhi recently and vowed to continue their protest until the CEC resigns.

The BJP has countered the allegations as “baseless” and accused the Congress and its allies of attempting to create anarchy in the country through such street protests to bring about a “regime change” in cahoots with foreign forces.

Intensifying the campaign against alleged “vote chori”, the INDIA bloc has decided to organise a rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 to raise the issue. The Congress has described the INDIA bloc rally as the culmination of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march against alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Election Commission and the SIR.

The BJYM said it will organise essay-writing contests, quiz competitions, speech contests and over 100 ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad’ town hall events across the country as part of the youth outreach under the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign.

“Through these initiatives, young people will have the opportunity to deliberate on issues of national importance, share their aspirations, and understand their role in shaping the nation’s future,” it said.

The BJYM said its youth leaders will visit colleges and educational institutions across the country to engage in direct dialogue with students, young professionals and emerging leaders.

“These interactions will specifically address misconceptions and false narratives circulating regarding democratic institutions and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls,” the BJP youth wing said.

“Through fact-based discussions and direct communication, the BJYM aims to counter the misleading propaganda and misinformation spread by the opposition, while simultaneously strengthening the youth’s understanding of democratic processes,” it said.

The BJYM said the month-long campaign will also feature face-to-face interactions involving “youth icons, social media influencers, and students”.

“These sessions will focus on fact-checking prevailing claims and clarifying misinformation, while encouraging young people to critically evaluate any information before accepting or sharing it,” it added. PTI PK MNK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
