New Delhi, Apr 18 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured the country’s women that the BJP-NDA’s commitment to the empowerment of women is eternal and the ruling alliance will eliminate every obstacle that stands in the way of giving reservation to women in legislatures.

In his address to the nation, a day after the women reservation bill was defeated in the Lok Sabha, Modi said that the political parties opposing the reservation will never be able to stop the women of the country from increasing their participation in Parliament and state assemblies.

“I assure every woman of this country: we will eliminate every obstacle that stands in the way of women’s reservation. We will remove them. Our morale is high, our courage is unbreakable, and our resolve is unwavering,” he said.

The prime minister said it is only a matter of time before the legislation to provide reservations to women in legislatures is approved by Parliament.

“Yesterday, we did not have the numbers, but that does not mean we have lost. Our willpower is invincible. The BJP-NDA’s commitment to the empowerment of women is eternal,” he said.

Modi said the government’s efforts will not pause; the efforts will not stop.

“We will have more opportunities in the future. For the dreams of half our population and for the future of this nation, we must fulfil this pledge,” he said. PTI ACB BJ VN VN
