BJP MLA blames DyCM Shinde for not clearing funds for road concretisation in Mira-Bhayandar

Thane, Aug 5 (PTI) Narendra Mehta, the BJP MLA of Mira-Bhayandar in the district, has targeted the party ally and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for allegedly not clearing a loan for road concretisation in the area.

Shinde, who heads the Public Works Department (PWD) and Urban Development, said the government will clear the files.

Pothole-ridden roads in the areas under the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation in the district have led to a political slugfest.

Speaking at a press conference at Bhayander on Tuesday, Mehta blamed Shinde, claiming that his depatments had withheld approval for a Rs 500 crore loan sought by the corporation for constructing concrete roads.

The file was pending for several months, he alleged.

Responding to the allegations, Shinde assured that the loan will be approved.

“We have provided assistance to several municipal corporations, and necessary support will be extended to Mira-Bhayandar as well,” he said, speaking at a function at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini in Bhayandar.

Mehta, however, has announced a protest over the issue on Monday. PTI COR KRK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
