Patna, Aug 15 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday said the NDA government in the state has set a target of bringing in Rs 5 lakh crore in investments by November this year.
After unfurling the tricolour at the Gandhi Maidan here, he said, “Bihar is registering a high growth rate. It will go ahead with inclusive development in the coming years.” The state government also aims to establish 25 sugar mills over the next five years in the state, the chief minister said.
In his first Independence Day speech, Choudhary said the government has set a target of attracting Rs 5 lakh crore in investments by November this year.
He invited industrialists and businessmen to invest in Bihar, assuring them that the state now offers a conducive environment for setting up industries. The government has developed more than 100 industrial areas to bring in investments, the chief minister said.
“Our government has fixed a new target of providing 1 crore government jobs and employment opportunities to its people by 2030,” he announced.
Choudhary told the gathering that Bihar was committed to preparing skilled manpower. “Our industrial policy is focused on generating maximum employment in the state.” The chief minister said his government’s objective is to ensure transparent, impartial, and time-bound redressal of every citizen’s grievances. All government officials have been directed to treat citizens with respect and ensure prompt resolution of their problems, he said.
“A new initiative called ‘Sahyog camps’ has been launched for time-bound redressal of people’s grievances and it has proved highly effective. More than six lakh complaints have been received, 95 per cent of which have been resolved on the spot,” Choudhary said.
“The size of Bihar’s budget has increased significantly in recent years to reach Rs 3.47,589 lakh crore. This reflects the state’s enhanced capacity to invest in development, infrastructure, and social sectors.” He told the gathering that the Bihar government has enrolled over 30 lakh people in the ration card scheme, and one crore eligible people, who were previously left out of the scheme, will also be included.
Stressing the importance of women’s empowerment, Choudhary said women have been given 35 per cent reservation in the police force.
“A large number of female constables have been recruited in the Bihar Police. The participation of women in the Bihar Police is now the highest in the country,” the chief minister added.
To ensure the safety of school- and college-going girls in Bihar, he said 5,000 scooters would be deployed along with “police didis” across the state.
These women police personnel will patrol areas around schools and colleges to ensure a safe environment for girl students, he said. PTI PKD NSD
