Patna, Jun 23 (PTI) Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar on Tuesday warned of action against the principal of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), who was found absent during his surprise inspection.
During the visit to the state’s largest government hospital-cum-medical college, Kumar reviewed various departments and the availability of essential medicines and medical equipment.
“The availability of essential drugs is fine. However, the principal is absent. He neither left any notice nor handed over charge to anybody else in his absence. Appropriate action will be taken against him,” Kumar told reporters.
The minister said he tried to contact the principal over the phone but did not receive a response.
Kumar also interacted with patients to assess the availability of medicines and other facilities at the hospital.
“The situation is good, and things have improved. Many things are functioning well, and the remaining issues will be addressed in a phased manner. Some discrepancies have been found and will be rectified soon,” he said.
He directed hospital officials to immediately inform the department about any shortage of staff or medical equipment. PTI SUK SOM
