Patna, Aug 15 (PTI) Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain on Friday hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Patna on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Deepak Kumar Singh, along with officials and staff of the Lok Bhavan, were present on the occasion, a statement said.
Speaker Prem Kumar hoisted the national flag at the assembly premises.
“I hoisted the national flag here and bowed my head before the Tricolour, which is a symbol of national unity, integrity and sovereignty,” Kumar said in a post on X.
Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh and Assembly Deputy Speaker Narendra Narayan Yadav, among others, were present.
Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Maidan in Gaya, while Health Minister Nishant Kumar unfurled the Tricolour at his official residence in Patna.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every Bihari should resolve to take Bihar on the path of prosperity. For this, we need to spread positivity across the state and rid it of the ailments it is suffering from,” Sinha told reporters.
Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi and JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha hoisted the national flag at their respective party offices on Beerchand Patel Path and paid tributes to freedom fighters.
RJD national president Lalu Prasad hoisted the Tricolour at his residence as well as at the official residence of his son and party leader Tejashwi Yadav.
