Patna, Aug 29 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday felicitated Commonwealth Games 2026 medal-winning para-athletes Soman Rana and Jhandu Kumar on the occasion of National Sports Day.
Choudhary presented a cheque of Rs 30 lakh to Rana for winning gold in the men’s F57 shot put and Rs 15 lakh to Kumar for securing bronze in men’s para powerlifting.
The two athletes were also presented ceremonial stoles and mementos at a function held here.
According to a statement by the Chief Minister’s Office, Choudhary congratulated the athletes during an interaction and said their performances had brought glory to the country and made Bihar proud on the national and international sporting map.
The CM said the state government was committed to providing athletes with better training, facilities and incentives to help them excel at the national and international levels.
He said the achievements of Bihar’s sportspersons would inspire the state’s youth to pursue sports and win medals for the country. PTI PKD MNB
