Patna, Oct 5 (PTI) Bihar has tightened security ahead of Durga Puja and Dussehra, banning DJs and warning of strict action against miscreants, rumour-mongers and anyone attempting to disrupt communal harmony, officials said on Monday.
A high-level meeting jointly chaired by Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit and DGP Preeta Verma reviewed law-and-order preparations across all 40 districts, including 38 administrative and two police districts.
According to a statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat department, the chief secretary directed officials to ensure the safety of women and children during the festivals and said no one found disrupting law and order would be spared.
He also ordered strict enforcement of the ban on DJs across the state.
The DGP directed district police chiefs to deploy adequate forces at sensitive locations.
Police have also been asked to closely monitor social media, conduct fire audits of major puja pandals and ensure regular briefings of personnel.
Authorities have made 100 per cent licensing mandatory for puja pandals, idols and immersion processions.
“Organisers will have to furnish undertakings from 10-25 responsible persons, while processions will be videographed and photographed. Provocative songs, objectionable slogans, display of prohibited weapons and depictions that could hurt the sentiments of any community will not be allowed,” the statement said.
“Loudspeakers will require permission and cannot be used between 10 pm and 6 am. DJ operators and loudspeaker owners will also have to register with the sub-divisional authorities”, said the statement.
Officials have been directed to ensure separate entry and exit points at crowded venues and adequate deployment of medical teams, ambulances, QRTs, SDRF personnel, CCTV cameras and watchtowers. Divers and rescue teams will be stationed at designated immersion ghats and Ravan Dahan sites. PTI PKD MNB
