Bengaluru, Aug 29 (PTI) A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trespassing into a woman’s room at a paying guest accommodation here, stealing personal hygiene items and engaging in obscene acts, police said on Saturday.
The accused was identified as Giriraj. He was staying on the second floor of the same PG facility in Koramangala, they said.
According to police, the woman stated in her complaint that the incident occurred on August 24 after she and her roommate left their room unlocked at around 7.21 am, as they shared a single key.
Upon checking the CCTV footage, it was found that the accused allegedly entering the unlocked room, stealing innerwear and sanitary pads, arranging the clothing in an obscene manner and engaging in acts of sexual self-gratification before fleeing with five sanitary pads, the FIR stated.
The matter came to light when the suspect allegedly tried to force his way into the woman’s room again the following morning, following which she approached the police.
A case was registered against him under Section 78(2) (stalking), 79 (pertaining to words, gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman), Section 305(a) (theft in a building used as a human dwelling or for custody of property) and Section 329(4) (house-trespass or house-breaking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said.
The accused was arrested after police reviewed the CCTV footage, they said, adding that further investigation is underway. PTI AMP SA
