Jalpaiguri, Jul 28 (PTI) A school teacher died, while a Nepali film director and two others were injured after their car overturned at Washabari area in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
The accident took place around 1 am at Bagrakote on National Highway-17 when they were travelling to Siliguri.
The deceased was identified as Bikash Biswakarma (46), a teacher at Bagdogra Government School, while Nepali director Udeep Thapa, Badal Biswakarma and Sabin Thapa are undergoing treatment at a hospital, police said.
The car reportedly went out of control and overturned, resulting in the death of the teacher on the spot, an officer said.
A group of local residents carried out a rescue operation for nearly an hour before police arrived at the spot, he said.
