Hyderabad, May 6 (PTI) Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday demanded that the Telangana government complete paddy procurement on a war footing in view of damage to produce caused by unseasonal rains.
The BJP leader alleged in a statement that the Congress government is not showing alertness, even though farmers are facing difficulties at procurement centres due to severe heat, sudden rains, and hailstorms.
Kumar, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that the Centre is providing funds for procurement.
He further alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who is currently on a visit to Delhi, is not showing the same level of seriousness regarding paddy procurement.
He demanded that the government procure paddy that has become wet due to unseasonal rains without raising objections and come to the rescue of the farmers.
He added that the CM and all other ministers should focus on paddy procurement without delay. PTI SJR SSK
