Bhopal, Jun 17 (PTI) The Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in Madhya Pradesh has been honoured with the ‘Best Wildlife Destination’ award in the ‘India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2026’.
The “Editor’s Choice Award – Best Wildlife Destination” category was presented to the BTR for its “remarkable work in wildlife conservation, excellent tourism management, providing a high-quality tourist experience, and biodiversity conservation”, an official release said on Wednesday.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden Samita Rajora received the award at a function held on June 15 in Goa in the presence of Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The BTR is popular among tourists for its rich biodiversity, good tiger population, natural beauty, and effective conservation management. The award is a proud moment not only for BTR but for the entire Madhya Pradesh and further strengthens the state’s identity as one of the leading wildlife tourism destinations in the country, the release said.
