Ayodhya (UP), Aug 20 (PTI) Seers in Ayodhya and former members of the Shri Ram Janmabhhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will celebrate on Friday the first anniversary of the commencement of daily parikrama (circumambulation) at Ram Kot, the 3-kilometre route around the temple premises, sources said.

The daily parikrama at the temple began on August 21 last year and has since been performed regularly by a group of seers between 5.30 am and 6.30 am.

Sources said preparations have been completed for a grand celebration on Friday, during which flowers will be showered at several places on the seers undertaking the parikrama.

Former trustee of the Ram Temple Trust Anil Mishra held a meeting with Ayodhya seers on Thursday evening to discuss the celebrations. It was decided that around 2,000 seers would participate in the anniversary parikrama, temple sources said.

Former Trust general secretary Champat Rai has visited several temples in Ayodhya and invited seers to participate in the event, they said.

The anniversary programme is expected to bring together a large number of seers and religious figures from across Ayodhya. PTI COR ABN RUK RUK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
