Banka (Bihar), Aug 3 (PTI) At least six people died in separate lightning strikes in Bihar’s Banka district, police said on Monday.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ajit Kumar said reports have been sought from the police stations concerned over the deaths that occurred on Sunday.

In Khaba village, 35-year-old Brahmadev Yadav and his seven-year-old son Prince Kumar died in their paddy field, police said.

According to eyewitnesses, the two had taken shelter under a tree to escape the rain when they were struck by lightning.

A person identified as Inaud Yadav (35) of Golahu village and Sarita Devi (30) of Lilabaran village died in lightning strikes.

Moreover, 55-year-old labourer Sadhu Tanti was killed in Dafarpur, and 35-year-old Ajay Mahto lost his life in Salempur village, police added.

ADM Kumar said financial assistance will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased in accordance with government norms. PTI COR SUK NSD
