Assam Rifles seizes meth tablets worth over Rs 3 crore, 1 Myanmar national held

Aizawl, Jul 24 (PTI) Assam Rifles personnel seized methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 3 crore and arrested a Myanmar national for possessing the drug in east Mizoram’s Champhai district, the paramilitary force said in a statement on Thursday.

Based on specific intelligence, the troops launched a search operation at the district’s Zote village, near the Myanmar border, on Wednesday, it said.

During the search operation, the team recovered 1.11 kg of methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 3.03 crore from the possession of the Myanmar national, it said.

The accused was handed over to the excise and narcotics department in Champhai along with the seized meth tablets. PTI CORR SBN SBN
