New Delhi: Declining Covid numbers has enthused citizens to travel more in the next three months, a survey has found.
Polling platform LocalCircles found that 59 per cent of those surveyed want to travel soon, though this is a marginal increase from a December survey which showed 58 per cent were eager to pack their bags.
With the daily positivity rate now below 2 per cent, the travel and tourism industry is looking at a strong revival. More so, since the Omicron-led third wave is firmly on the wane.
Daily air traffic now crosses the 3-lakh passenger mark, indicating a sharp recovery, with air travel now at 85 per cent of pre-COVID levels.
The latest survey was conducted to understand travel plans of citizens from March to May, 2022. LocalCircles said it received 20,000 responses from people staying in 321 districts of India. Sixty-three per cent of respondents were men while 37 per cent were women.
However, of the 59 per cent planning to travel, only 12 per cent have booked tickets and stay.
LocalCircles – which polls on issues of governance, public, and consumer interests – found 18 per cent have plans but no tickets yet, while another 29 per cent said they would book closer to the travel date.
Among the remaining 41 per cent surveyed, 12 per cent are still unsure, while 29 per cent have no plans at all.
