Itanagar, Oct 25 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik on Sunday said effective communication, self-discipline, integrity and problem-solving skills were essential qualities of good leadership.

Addressing students at a state-level youth leadership camp in Balijan in Papum Pare district, the governor said effective communication was among the most important attributes of a good leader, a Lok Bhavan statement said.

The four-day camp, titled ‘Spread Your Wings’, was organised from October 22 by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Arunachal Pradesh Trust (VKVAPT) at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Balijan, with 145 students from various schools of the organisation across the state participating in it.

He encouraged students to develop a regular habit of reading and writing to gain more knowledge, enrich their vocabulary, sharpen their thinking and express ideas with clarity and confidence.

The governor advised students to remain calm under pressure while maintaining determination and clarity of purpose.

A composed demeanour, confident body language and measured responses inspire trust, particularly during challenging situations, he said.

Highlighting problem-solving as a defining leadership quality, Parnaik urged students to develop analytical abilities, anticipate challenges and take timely and responsible decisions.

He also encouraged them to learn from experience and adopt a proactive approach to addressing difficulties.

Stressing the importance of integrity, trust, modesty, courage, commitment and conviction, he said leadership should be guided by responsibility and service rather than privilege.

He said integrity must become a way of life and advised students to lead by example, placing collective welfare above personal recognition.

Parnaik also encouraged the participants to develop their passion along with intelligence, knowledge and skills, noting that passion, supported by discipline and dedication, could help individuals overcome setbacks and achieve their goals.

The camp, centred on the theme ‘Love India’, aimed to awaken the potential of young people, develop their skills and leadership qualities, and familiarise them with Vivekananda Kendra as a platform to channel their aspirations towards the welfare of Arunachal Pradesh and the country, the statement said. Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
