Itanagar, Jul 16 (PTI): The Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) and the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (BRLPS) on Thursday signed a pact to strengthen food, nutrition, health, and WASH interventions in the northeastern state.

The agreement was signed in Bihar’s Gayaji under the aegis of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), officials said.

ArSRLM state mission director Sangeeta Yirang and BRLPS state mission director Himanshu Sharma signed the pact in the presence of Swati Sharma, joint secretary in the Union Ministry of Rural Development.

The partnership establishes a three-year framework for technical collaboration to reinforce Food, Nutrition, Health, and WASH (FNHW) initiatives across Arunachal Pradesh.

As the designated National Resource Organisation (NRO) for the FNHW programme, BRLPS, popularly known as JEEViKA in Bihar, will provide comprehensive technical assistance to ArSRLM. This will include capacity building, knowledge sharing, exposure visits, mentoring, and continuous handholding support.

The collaboration primarily aims to strengthen community institutions promoted by ArSRLM, such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Primary Level Federations (PLFs), and Master Community Level Federations (MCLFs).

According to officials, the joint initiative will build the capacities of community cadres and promote improved food security, nutrition, health, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) practices among rural households. This will be achieved through community-led approaches and convergence with various government line departments.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance institutional capacities, support sustainable behavioural change, and contribute toward building healthier, better-nourished, and resilient rural communities across Arunachal Pradesh, officials added. PTI CORR MNB
