Army’s Cheetah helicopter crashes in Arunachal Pradesh, 2 pilots missing

New Delhi: An Indian Army helicopter crashed Thursday in Arunachal Pradesh’s Mandala.

The force has mounted a search operation for the two missing crew men – a lieutenant colonel and a major.

The Army said: “Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh was reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 09:15 AM on 16 March 23.”

It added: “It is reported to have crashed near Mandala, West of Bomdila. Search parties have been launched.”

The Arunachal Police later said that the chopper lost contact midway while en route to Missamari from Senge village. Around 12.30 pm, villagers from Bangjalep in Dirang spotted the wreckage.
