New Delhi, Oct 26 (PTI) The next Army Day Parade will be held in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal during which the force will showcase its rich military heritage and operational prowess, officials said on Monday.

Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to commemorate the achievements of the first Commander-in-Chief of independent India, Gen (later Field Marshal) K M Cariappa.

“ARMY DAY PARADE 2027 | BHOPAL BECKONS A celebration of Valour, Tradition and Military Excellence! #IndianArmy is set to bring the grandeur of the Army Day Parade 2027 to #Bhopal, showcasing its rich military heritage, operational prowess and unwavering commitment to the Nation. Get Ready to Witness the Spirit of the Yoddha!” the Army said in a post on X.

It also shared a video clip along with the social media post.

The annual Army Day Parade has traditionally been held in Delhi, but the Army has been hosting the ceremonial event in different cities of India in the past few years.

The 2026 parade was held in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur.

Last year, it was hosted at the Bombay Engineers Group and Centre Parade Ground in Pune.

In 2024, the 76th Army Day Parade was held at Thakur Sheodatt Singh Parade Ground, 11 GRRC, Lucknow.

On January 15, 1949, Gen Cariappa, who led Indian forces to victory in the 1947 war, took over the command of the Indian Army from Gen Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief, and became the first Commander-in-Chief of free India. PTI KND KSS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
