Armed men loot 3 kg gold worth nearly Rs 5 crore from bank in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag

Hazaribag, Apr 24 (PTI) Four armed men looted 3 kg of gold worth around Rs 5 crore and Rs 4 lakh in cash from a bank in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district in broad daylight on Friday, police said.

The incident took place around 3.10 pm at a Bank of Maharashtra branch within Barhi police station limits, they said.

Police said the miscreants entered the bank during lunchtime.

“Four armed criminals entered the bank, took the manager and four staff members hostage, and forced them to open the iron chest at gunpoint. They looted 3 kg of gold worth Rs 5 crore and Rs 4 lakh in cash,” Barhi SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal told PTI.

The SDPO said there were no customers at the bank at the time of the incident.
