Andhra police wins national award for passport verification excellence

Amaravati, June 11 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh Police has been selected for the Institutional Performance Award for State Police from the Ministry of External Affairs, recognising it as one of the best-performing police authorities in India for passport application verification.

In a letter addressed to Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on June 10, Chief Passport Officer and Joint Secretary (PSP) BS Mubarak informed that Andhra Pradesh Police earned the recognition based on passport application verification data for the financial year 2025-26.

“Based on its outstanding performance in passport verification services, Andhra Pradesh Police has been selected for the Institutional Performance Award for State Police, which will be presented by the MEA on June 19,” said Mubarak.

The MEA has invited Gupta to attend the segment of the Passport Seva Divas and Passport Officers’ Conference.

The award will be presented by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations in New Delhi on June 19.

The Ministry noted that police verification remains a critical component of passport issuance and said the Andhra Pradesh Police earned the recognition for its performance in processing and verifying passport applications efficiently.

Passport Seva Divas is observed annually by the Ministry of External Affairs in June to mark the enactment of the Passports Act, 1967.

The Passport Officers’ Conference is held alongside the celebrations to deliberate on various aspects of passport services and delivery. PTI MS ROH
