Amaravati, Sep 3 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday revoked the suspension of two senior IPS officers — Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni — nearly two years after they were suspended.
The two IPS officers were first suspended on September 15, 2024 and their suspension was subsequently extended multiple times for their alleged involvement in “harassing” a Mumbai-based actor-cum-model, Kadambari Narendra Kumar Jethwani.
“Government hereby revoke the suspension of Kanthi Rana Tata, IPS (RR:2004) and reinstate him in service with immediate effect,” Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad said in a Government Order (GO).
The chief secretary issued similar orders for Vishal Gunni, a 2010 batch IPS officer.
Though the latest extension of the suspension of both the IPS officers was up to September 4, Prasad issued orders revoking their suspension with immediate effect on Thursday.
According to the GO, Tata and Gunni gave a representation to the government on August 24, followed by a letter from the Director General of Police (DGP) to the government on the same day, which ultimately led to the revocation of their suspension today.
However, the chief secretary noted that the revocation of the suspension will be without prejudice to the ongoing “disciplinary and criminal proceedings.” PTI STH KH
