Amit Shah to inaugurate, lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 1,024 cr in Gujarat

Stay updated with ThePrint:

Ahmedabad, Nov 8 (PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 27 development projects worth Rs 1,024 crore in his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency in Gujarat on Monday, mayor Hitesh Barot said on Sunday.

Key projects being unveiled include a major flyover on the busy Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) Highway, the Jodhpur Knowledge Hub, and an Urban Health Centre in Gota, along with housing allotment initiatives for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) beneficiaries.

The public event will be held at 12 pm on a ground opposite the Ranip state transport bus station in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Barot said, adding that Shah will also address the gathering.

Several parts of western Ahmedabad, including the SG Highway, fall under Shah’s Lok Sabha constituency.

A flyover connecting ISKCON Crossroads to Sanand on the busy SG Highway has been built to ease traffic congestion on the stretch, which sees the movement of more than two lakh vehicles daily, particularly those travelling between Saurashtra and Gandhinagar, Barot said.

“This flyover has been constructed to address the heavy flow of traffic. It will greatly benefit residents and commuters travelling between Saurashtra and Gandhinagar,” he said.

The event will also mark the launch of a major housing allotment process for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) beneficiaries in Ahmedabad.

Barot said that the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has constructed around 7,800 EWS housing units across 11 locations, for which more than 97,000 applications have been received. After verification of applications, a computerised lottery draw for the allotment of houses will be conducted on Monday at the event in the presence of Shah.

Apart from this, nearly 1,000 completed housing units in the Ramapir No Tekro area will be handed over to beneficiaries during the programme, he said. PTI PJT ARU
