New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated ₹300 crore worth of farmer welfare schemes at the NDDB Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Anand, Gujarat on the birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvan Patel. The occasion marked the diamond jubilee celebration of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel, the founding father of the cooperative movement in India, a PIB press release stated.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the Standard Operating Procedures (SoP) for White Revolution 2.0, a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at empowering dairy farmers. According to Shah, the SoP will enable one lakh new and existing dairies and expand milk routes across the country.
Shah paid tribute to Tribhuvandas Patel, describing him as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to empowering farmers. He emphasized Patel’s role in establishing the NDDB, which has since become a global leader in dairy development. Addressing the gathering, Shah said that the NDDB’s success story is a testament to the power of cooperation. He highlighted NDDB’s contribution to rural development, women’s empowerment, and the fight against malnutrition.
Shah inaugurated a Mother Dairy fruit and vegetable processing unit worth ₹210 crore. He also launched the Badri Ghee from Uttarakhand and the Gir Ghee brand from Mother Dairy. The Union Home Minister concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector. He announced plans to establish 2 lakh new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and connect all eight crore milk-producing families in the country with the cooperative fold.
