Indore, May 27 (PTI) Amid the ongoing water scarcity in Indore, the Congress on Wednesday shared a video of the Mayor’s Secretariat being washed, and accused the municipal corporation administration of wasting water.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava hit back at the opposition party, saying it was indulging in petty politics. He clarified that treated water (non-potable water from a treatment plant) was used in the washing.
Sharing the video on social media, the State Congress Committee said, “While the people of Indore are desperate for water, the Mayor is having his secretariat washed with water.” In the approximately 40-second video, a municipal corporation employee is seen washing the exterior of the Mayor’s Secretariat with a pipe from a government tanker.
The person filming the video is heard telling the employee that people in the city don’t even have drinking water and that water is being wasted washing the Mayor’s Secretariat.
The video clip also shows an altercation between the two individuals.
For the past few days, people in various areas of Indore have been complaining about the water scarcity.
Bhargava, meanwhile, accused the Congress party of stooping to extremely cheap and vile politics.
“The drainage outside the Mayor’s Secretariat was cleaned with a de-silting machine. After that, the treated water was used to clean the dirt outside the Secretariat,” he said, adding that Congress workers stand outside his home and office and try to make videos to create unnecessary controversy.
