Ambulance catches fire on Ambala highway, no one injured

Ambala, Jul 2 (PTI) An ambulance burst into flames on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway here, police said on Thursday. No one was injured in the incident.

The incident occurred near Saddopur village here on Wednesday evening.

The ambulance was returning to Kurukshetra district after dropping a patient at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, when its driver, Krishna Kumar, noticed smoke emanating from the engine, police said.

He immediately stopped the ambulance and got out to inspect it, but the vehicle suddenly burst into flames. Passersby alerted the fire brigade and police.

By the time firefighters reached the spot, the ambulance had been completely gutted.

No one was injured in the incident. A case has been registered in the matter and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire, police said. PTI COR VSD DIV DIV
