New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday dismissed “baseless, misleading and politically motivated” allegations made by the AISA linking the ink-smearing of its national president Neha Bora during a protest march in Ranchi to “RSS-BJP goons”.
The RSS-affiliated students’ organisation claimed instead of raising genuine issues affecting students, AISA was once again attempting to divert public attention through manufactured controversies and media-driven political narratives.
A man threw ink at the All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president during a protest march to the Jharkhand Assembly on Friday over alleged irregularities related to Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations.
On being detained, the attacker accused Bora of being an “anti-national”.
In a statement, AISA condemned the incident and alleged that BJP and RSS-linked individuals had been running a “propaganda and hate campaign” against Bora’s participation in the protest.
Responding to the allegations, the ABVP said the Left-wing students’ organisation was using the ink-smearing incident to overshadow real issues faced by students in a deliberate attempt to gain political mileage rather than seek justice.
The ABVP asserted that student movements must remain committed to safeguarding academic interests and contribute to nation-building, rather than becoming instruments for partisan politics.
It alleged that AISA has repeatedly sought to exploit student issues to advance an ideological agenda that is disconnected from the aspirations of India’s student community. “Such attempts to create division and ideological confrontation on campuses, have consistently been rejected by students across the country.” ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said, “The attempt to convert the ink-throwing incident into a political campaign instead of addressing the concerns of students exposes AISA’s priorities.
“If any incident requires investigation, it should be conducted impartially and in accordance with the law. However, levelling allegations without facts is nothing but an exercise in political desperation and cheap publicity.” Solanki said student movements are meant to strengthen society and contribute to nation-building, and not serve as platforms for political theatrics. “Any attempt to promote an ideology that seeks to weaken India’s unity through educational campuses will continue to be firmly rejected by the student community.” PTI KSH ARB ARB
