New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) The All India Students’ Association (AISA), on Thursday, organised a “victory march” at Delhi University’s North Campus, asserting that the student movement launched during the recent Jantar Mantar protests would continue until the National Testing Agency (NTA) is scrapped and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is rolled back.
The march, held from the Arts Faculty, was organised in “hopes of continuing what started during the Jantar Mantar protest”, according to members of the student organisation.
Addressing the gathering, AISA leaders said the end of the Jantar Mantar protest did not mark the end of the movement and that the organisation would continue to mobilise students on issues concerning entrance examinations, higher education and youth employment.
AISA national president Neha, JNUSU Joint Secretary Danish Ali and social activist Mohammed Junaid addressed the march and called upon students to sustain the nationwide campaign against the NTA and the NEP.
The organisation reiterated its demands for scrapping the NTA, restoring universities’ authority to conduct their own entrance examinations, rolling back the NEP 2020 and strengthening public education.
AISA also announced the launch of a nationwide campaign titled “Gen Z Rising”, under which its national president Neha will undertake a multi-state tour beginning August 7 to engage with students and youth across the country.
The campaign will focus on demands for abolishing the NTA, repealing the NEP 2020, expanding access to affordable quality education and addressing youth unemployment, with the first phase covering states including Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Odisha.
