Bhubaneswar, Jan 27 (PTI) Around two years after his son died, former Odisha MLA Nabin Nanda has solemnised the marriage of his daughter-in-law Madhusmita.

The low-key wedding was held at a temple in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar.

Panda’s son had succumbed to lung infections, post Covid, at the age of 38 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Cuttack in May 2021.

After her father suggested whether she can marry again, the politician said he gave his consent. After Madhusmita agreed to the proposal, her parents selected a groom.

“Madhusmita is too young, she had a long life ahead. It wouldn’t have been fair for her to lead a lonely life,” Nanda told PTI.

The wedding was solemnised in the presence of the family members of the groom and the bride on National Girl Child Day on Tuesday.

Nanda was elected to the Odisha Assembly twice from Dhenkanal and Gondia constituencies. PTI SUF NN NN
