New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) A 24-year-old man was arrested in Bengaluru in connection with the kidnapping-for-ransom case involving the alleged abduction of a scrap businessman from Delhi, police said on Thursday.
The accused, Noman, had shifted to Bengaluru and was working at a salon while concealing his identity, they said.
He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 20,000 and had been declared a proclaimed offender after allegedly evading arrest by frequently changing his locations and concealing his identity.
According to Delhi Police, Noman, along with his associates, Bhura and Wamik, allegedly kidnapped a scrap businessman while he was on his way to his factory and demanded Rs 2 crore for his release. A case had been registered on January 3.
Bhura and Wamik were already arrested, while Noman remained on the run, following which a reward was announced for information leading to his arrest, police said.
Police formed a team to trace Noman and analysed available information, human intelligence and inputs from its informer network, officials said.
Police reached Bengaluru and mounted discreet surveillance at the suspected location. He was apprehended at a salon in Bengaluru on September 11. The Shaheen Bagh police station was later informed about his arrest.
Police said Noman had studied up to Class 12 and had undergone a barber and beautician course. He is a trained barber and allegedly worked as a manager at a salon in Bengaluru during his period of abscondence.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the complete sequence of events and the role of all those involved in the kidnapping, police said. PTI SSJ KSI KSI
