Chaibasa, Aug 20 (PTI) The officer-in-charge (OC) of a police station in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday while allegedly accepting a bribe, an officer said.
A team of ACB, Jamshedpur, laid a trap and arrested sub-inspector Manish Kumar, Officer-in-Charge of Bandgaon police station, while accepting Rs 15,000 from the complainant, said Superintendent of Police (ACB) Sriram Samad.
The accused police officer had demanded the bribe to favour the complainant in a case registered at the police station.
The complainant had lodged a complaint with the ACB recently as he did not want to pay the bribe demanded by the police officer.
Following the verification, ACB officials found the allegation of the complainant was true and laid a trap to nab the police officer.
As soon as the police officer accepted the bribe money from the complainant, the ACB team caught him, an officer said.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (West Singhbhum) Amit Renu said he has information about the ACB action.
“We are looking into it. If the allegations against the police officer are found to be true, departmental proceedings would be initiated against the erring officer-in-charge,” the SP said. PTI COR BS RG
