Jaipur, Jul 28 (PTI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a former land record official, who had been absconding for several months in connection with a bribery case involving Rs 30 lakh in Jaipur, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Narendra Meena, was wanted in a case registered in September last year after a complainant alleged that he had demanded Rs 50 lakh for opening mutation of land in the Hathoj area, purportedly on behalf of him and the then tehsildar.
After verification, the bureau found the complaint to be genuine. The accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 30 lakh as bribe through a middleman, Vikas Sharma.
“During a trap operation on September 21, 2025, the intermediary was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 30 lakh, but the main accused fled from the spot,” an ACB statement said.
The bureau said offences against Meena were established under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Despite notices issued to appear before investigators, he remained absconding until his arrest.
In a separate case, the ACB also arrested a permanent warrant accused, identified as Jayaprakash alias J P, who had been absconding in a fake medical pensioners’ diary case, they added. PTI AG SHS SHS
