Shimla, Aug 7 (PTI) Around 750 police personnel will be deployed as part of the robust measures undertaken for the upcoming monsoon session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, starting from August 21, officials said on Friday.
Presiding over a meeting regarding the security arrangements and other issues, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania issued strict directives to officials, emphasising that there must be no lapses in security arrangements during the session.
The 14-day long 12th session (monsoon) of the 14th legislative assembly with 10 sittings would be held till September 3. So far, the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has received notices for a total of 406 questions from members, and more are expected to follow, Pathania said.
The police department will monitor security arrangements using drone cameras during any protests or demonstrations, the speaker said. Members should face no inconvenience in reaching the House, and their security must be ensured, he added. During the meeting, DGP Ashok Tiwari and Shimla SP Gaurav Singh informed those present that approximately 750 personnel would be deployed for security during the session and that security measures would be robust.
Additionally, an ambulance equipped with modern facilities, along with two doctors and paramedical staff, will be deployed on duty within the assembly complex, a statement issued here said.
Pathania also issued directives to officials to complete repair work on the Vidhan Sabha building and its premises on time and to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
He further said all entry passes would be issued manually rather than online, as the state has recently transitioned from ‘Himachal e-Vidhan’ to the national ‘e-Vidhan’ (NeVA) system, the implementation of which is currently underway.
“No government official, employee or other pass holder may transfer their official pass to another person. Doing so could result in legal action,” Pathania warned. PTI BPL PRK
