Rajkot, Apr 24 (PTI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Friday said that his party has emerged as a strong alternative in Gujarat and will sweep the upcoming Rajkot Municipal Corporation election.

Speaking to reporters here on the last day of campaigning for the April 26 polls, Sisodia accused the BJP-led state government of systematically weakening public hospitals and governance over the last 30 years.

Elections to local bodies in Gujarat, including 15 municipal corporations, will be held on April 26, and votes will be counted on April 28.

“AAP has now emerged as a strong alternative. This time it will win in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation,” the former deputy chief minister of Delhi said.

He targeted the ruling party, alleging that the condition of government schools in Rajkot is “extremely poor”.

While some school buildings had undergone improvements after AAP raised the issue, the quality of education remains poor, he said, and accused the government of weakening public hospitals and the overall system over the last 30 years.

Schools, hospitals, and governance systems have systematically deteriorated, Sisodia claimed, asserting that people now have an alternative which they will use in elections.

The senior AAP leader also participated in a roadshow with a large number of supporters and party workers in Rajkot.

More than 4.18 crore voters will be eligible to exercise their franchise in the local body polls, which will cover 34 district panchayats, 260 taluka panchayats, and 84 municipalities, besides 15 municipal corporations. PTI KVM PD ARU
