Patna, Apr 24 (PTI) Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi on Friday said seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs had decided to join the BJP because they were “influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global popularity” and the Centre’s “pro-people policies.” In a massive jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday, seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, quit the party.

Addressing a press conference, Chadha said two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs have quit the party and will join the BJP as a faction.

Talking to reporters here, Saraogi said, “Due to Modi’s popularity and the policies of the central government, good people from all parties are joining the BJP. We saw this in Assam with Congress leaders, and now we see it with AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs.” Responding to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s allegation that the BJP had “given Punjabis a shove”, Saraogi said he should first focus on managing his party.

Following the MPs’ exit from the party, AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal wrote on X, “The BJP has again given Punjabis a shove.” “If you cannot manage your party and engage in corruption and wrongdoing, good people will naturally leave. Instead of making baseless allegations, he should worry about why his own Rajya Sabha MPs are losing faith in his party’s policies and leaving,” the state BJP chief said. PTI SUK MNB
