Ranchi, Oct 19 (PTI) An 80-foot effigy of Ravana, along with those of Meghnad and Kumbhakarna, is being installed at Ranchi’s Morabadi Ground ahead of the ‘Ravan Dahan’ ceremony on Dussehra.

A two-storey model of Lanka has also been constructed at the ground, Kunal Aajmani, president of the Punjabi-Hindu Biradari Committee, said.

“We have made grand preparations for ‘Ravan Dahan’ at Morabadi Ground. An 80-foot-tall effigy of Ravana has been made here. A two-storey Lanka has been prepared. Besides, a spectacular display of pyrotechnic fireworks will be held,” he said.

Similar preparations are underway at Argora Ground, where a 55-foot effigy of Ravana is being installed. The effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are 50 feet tall each, said Bhola Kumar Sahu, a member of the Shri Durga Puja and Ravana Dahan Committee.

0″Special arrangements have also been made for a fireworks display,” he said.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the chief guest at both events, the organisers said. PTI COR RPS RPS SOM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
