Barabanki, Jul 28 (PTI) An eight-year-old boy died after he was bitten by a snake in his school here, with his family alleging that the child informed his teachers but was ignored, police said on Tuesday.
According to the family, Anshu, a Class 3 student, had gone to school as usual on Monday morning. Around 10 am, a snake bit him and he informed the teacher.
The teacher neither sent the child to the hospital nor informed the family. He died around 1 pm, they added.
According to the police, the school informed the family in the afternoon that the child had fallen ill; the family then took him to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, family members and villagers staged a protest at the hospital. The district magistrate has ordered an inquiry by a three-member committee comprising the ADM (Judicial), Additional SP (South), and the Basic Education Officer.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, the police said. PTI COR NAV APL APL
